The short version: HashShot works on your Mac. We never receive your screenshots, recordings, captions, extracted text or capture history. We only handle what is needed to sell you a license, activate it and help you.

What stays on your Mac

• All captures, recordings, edits, projects and your capture library.
• Text recognition, automatic redaction and background removal, which run on your Mac.
• Captions and transcripts, which use Apple's speech recognition on your Mac only. HashShot never sends your audio to a server.

What we receive

• When you buy: Stripe processes your payment. We receive your name, email address, country, billing details needed for receipts and taxes, and what you bought. We never see your full card number.
• When you activate a license: your license key, a one way scrambled code that identifies your Mac (it cannot be turned back into your Mac's serial or hardware details), your Mac's name so you can recognize it when moving the license, and the time. About once a week HashShot checks that the license is still active.
• When HashShot checks for updates: the request reaches our server with your IP address and your HashShot version.
• When you email us: your message and email address.

This website

hashshot.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising trackers. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

AI apps you connect

If you connect an AI app such as Claude, ChatGPT Codex, Cursor or VS Code, the screenshots, recordings or text you let it receive go to that app and its provider, under their privacy policy. HashShot asks your permission before an AI app captures or records, and you can disconnect any app in HashShot at any time.

Who helps us

• Stripe, for payments and receipts.
• Cloudflare, for this website, the license server and our support email.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

How long we keep it

We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting laws require. License records are kept while your license exists. Support emails are kept while they are useful for helping you.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@hashshot.app. If we delete your license records, the license can no longer be restored. Where the law of your country gives you further rights, such as in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we respect them, and you may also contact your local data protection authority.

Children

HashShot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will say so on this site before it takes effect.
