Text capture
Copy text from anything on your Mac screen.
Text inside a picture, a paused video, a slide or a locked PDF is still text. Select it with HashShot and it lands on your clipboard, ready to paste.
How it works
Three steps.
Choose Capture Text
From the menu bar, the HashShot window or its shortcut.
Select the area
Drag over the words, the QR code or the barcode.
Paste anywhere
The text is copied right away, ready to paste into any app.
What you get
Built for work you share.
Part of HashShot, the screenshot and screen recording app for Mac that keeps everything on your Mac.
Works on anything
Images, videos, slides, apps that block copying and PDFs without a text layer.
QR codes and barcodes
Read links and codes without reaching for your phone.
Search your history
Every capture is read once, so you can later search screenshots by the words inside them.
Read on your Mac
Text recognition runs on your Mac. Nothing is sent anywhere to be read.
FAQ
Questions, answered.
Can I copy text from an image on a Mac?
Yes. Choose Capture Text in HashShot, select the part of the image with text, and the text is copied to your clipboard.
Does it work on PDFs that do not allow copying?
Yes. HashShot reads the text from what is shown on screen, so it works on locked and scanned PDFs too.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Text recognition happens on your Mac.
